This project began as a straightforward bathroom renovation, but quickly revealed hidden challenges. While stripping out the old fittings and replacing particle board flooring, our team uncovered a long-term leak from the adjoining laundry. Access to the damaged area was limited under the house, and the flooring had decayed to the point it was barely intact.
A lesser team may have missed this issue, but Cain Built identified it early, removed the decayed timbers, and replaced the structure with new framing—ensuring a safe, long-lasting result. Despite the setback, the project continued with minimal disruption to the occupants. Insurance covered part of the remediation costs, and the bathroom was still completed before Christmas as planned.
The renovation modernised a tired 1990s family bathroom in Milford, with a reconfigured layout to suit updated plumbing and power. Given the compact space, a shower-over-bath was chosen to retain full functionality for the family, while the master ensuite provided a separate shower. A sleek vanity with a backlit LED mirror, along with a tiled feature niche with integrated lighting, added both convenience and style.
Design highlights included dark grey plank-style tiles, laid in a brick pattern to create a moody, architectural aesthetic that contrasts beautifully with the modern fixtures and lighting. The end result is a stylish and practical North Shore bathroom renovation—durable, functional, and tailored to the family’s everyday needs.
